Yamaha takes the next step with M7CL version 2
20th April 2009 - Shaun

Major software update incorporates the most requested features of Yamaha's enormously successful M7CL digital mixing console.

Yamaha Commercial Audio announces the M7CL Version 2 upgrade. Launched at Frankfurt Prolight + Sound 2009, this major software update delivers the industry’s most requested features to Yamaha's highly popular and intuitive M7CL live digital mixing console.

The M7CL R&D team

The M7CL Version 2 update has incorporated industry feedback from thousands of users worldwide, adding even more functions to the console's already considerable array of capabilities. Included among the new features is “Global Paste”, which allows simultaneous editing of multiple scenes, as well as the “Matrix Sends on Fader” feature which provides access to 24 mix busses in Sends on Fader mode.

Other improvements include Post-Fader inserts on all inputs and outputs, Post-Fader direct outs, Monitor/Cue level on stereo/mono faders, improvements to Recall Safe mode, Relative Level Channel Link, and User Defined Key setup via the console’s editor application within Yamaha’s Studio Manager V2 software host.

In keeping with Yamaha’s ongoing commitment to supporting its valued customers through regular product updates, the M7CL Version 2 software upgrade will be made available online, free of charge, for all users in the form of a console firmware update.

Available in 32 and 48 channel versions, the M7CL is the console of choice among a vast range of concert production companies, theatres, regional entertainment venues and houses of worship, and has become a mainstay in the live sound reinforcement industry since its September 2005 launch.

With a number of improvements to the user interface as well as added functionality, the Version 2 upgrade will provide Yamaha’s extensive base of M7CL users with considerably greater flexibility and convenience for live sound mixing.

When used in combination with Yamaha's new SB168-ES digital stage box, the M7CL V2 is an even more attractive solution for live mixing applications.

Summary of key new features in M7CL V2:

  • Global Paste  Allows simultaneous editing of multiple scenes
  • Channel Library  A new memory area for whole channel information
  • Matrix Send on Sends on Fader mode  Access 24 mix busses in Sends on Fader mode
  • Relative Level Channel Link  Channels can share parameter links with offsets between levels
  • Direct access to Sends on Fader from knobs during Sends on Fader mode  A more efficient use of User Defined Keys by activating the Mix Send knobs to move between Sends on Fader mixes
  • Post Fader insert for Input/Output  A new insert position
  • Post Fader direct out  A new pick-off point for direct out
  • Monitor/Cue Level on Stereo/Mono faders  Control monitor level with fader
  • Recall Safe improvements  When a SB168-ES is shared by two M7CL consoles, it is useful to use ATT at the non-controlling surface. ATT is now a Recall Safe parameter and can be recalled without affecting the EQ.
