New 16-channel Dante card provides true plug-and-play networked audio and live recording solutions for Yamaha digital mixers and processors
Yamaha Commercial Audio is pleased to announce the Australian distribution of the Audinate Dante-MY16-AUD card. Launched at InfoComm 2009, the Dante-MY16-AUD card is fully compatible with the Mini-YGDAI card slots of Yamaha’s vast range of digital mixing consoles, processors and power amplifiers.
Designed by Audinate, Inc., a leading provider of media networking products and solutions, the company’s Dante™ technology provides high performance digital media networking that meets the quality and performance requirements of professional live sound, AV sound reinforcement installations, broadcast and recording applications.
Audinate’s patent-pending Dante technology distributes digital audio with imperceptible latency, sample-accurate playback synchronisation and very high reliability. Dante delivers a self-configuring, true plug-and-play digital audio network that uses standard Internet Protocols at 1Gbps and/or 100Mbps Ethernet. Dante-enabled devices will self configure and automatically discover the location and number of channels of other devices on the network, reducing complicated installation requirements.
Dante’s sample-accurate synchronisation delivers the very low latency required by the professional audio market. In addition, its network-centric, audio-independent approach to synchronisation allows perfectly synchronised play-out across different audio channels, devices and networks, even over multiple switch hops.
Dante runs on readily available off-the-shelf computer networking hardware (e.g., Ethernet switches, IP routers) and does not require a dedicated network infrastructure. Further, Dante can leverage the same Ethernet network for transmitting uncompressed audio and control alongside ordinary data traffic.

Included with the Dante-MY16-AUD card is Audinate’s Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS), a software application which turns any Yamaha digital mixer into an ideal live or studio recording solution. With DVS, the user’s Mac or Windows computer looks and acts like any other Dante-enabled device.
This means any Yamaha digital mixer equipped with one or more Dante-MY16-AUD cards can interface directly with a computer via Cat5 without the need for an external audio interface.
Users will simply need to install DVS and connect their computer using the standard Ethernet port to enable the transfer of 24-bit audio directly from a Yamaha digital mixer to a PC or Mac running Steinberg Nuendo or similar audio recording software.
Compatible with a wide range of Yamaha digital equipment, including the PM5D, DSP5D, M7CL, LS9, DM2000, DM1000, 02R96 and 01V96 digital mixing consoles, the DME24N and DME64N digital mixing engines, and Yamaha’s new TXn Series power amplifiers, the Dante-MY16-AUD card also features high quality on-board VCXO clock which can provide master clock or slave from audio equipment.
“Yamaha is one of the most respected companies in the professional audio business and we are delighted to have them as the distributor for the Dante-MY16-AUD card,” states Lee Ellison, CEO, Audinate, Inc. “With the new card in Yamaha mixing consoles, customers will be able to easily connect to other Dante enabled products and offer a broader networked solution.”
Each Dante-MY16-AUD used with a Yamaha digital product provides 16 bi-directional channels at 48kHz (or 8 channels at 96kHz) and full Dante network audio redundancy. More cards can be added for increased channels.
The Dante-MY16-AUD card will be made available through Yamaha’s extensive network of Professional Audio and Commercial Audio dealers. Each Dante-MY16-AUD card includes one single license of the Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS).
