Mokes are very inspirational vehicles. Although basic in design and relatively simple in operation, owners treat them as something magical. A remarkable oddity.
They are fun to drive and they are great to own but beware, there are a number of key issues with Mokes that, although seldom discussed, really need to be addressed.
Even though this is predominantly a professional audio site, we have compiled a few extremely helpful tips that might save your Moke and more importantly, your health. |
Protect your hearing
Mokes are loud. Extremely loud. What we are talking about is, road noise, passing vehicles, your own engine and most importantly, wind noise. It's not just Mokes that have this problem. Normal cars and trucks suffer the same problem if driven with the window open. Different vehicles on different road surfaces will vary but It's estimated that the average noise factor from driving with the window open is well in excess of 100dB over a broad low frequency dominated spectrum. Make no bones about it, you need to wear hearing protection (especially on long trips), because it will, over time, send you deaf.

Wire the trailer properly
Don't play around with trailer wiring. It's not just a Moke thing. Make certain you wire them up so the trailer will fit any car.

Don't speed?
Strange thing to say to a Moke owner but what the hell. Click here for more info.
Our Fantastic Moke Department
How the hell do these guys do it? Probably the most informative Moke site on the web. It's full of all sorts of entertaining stuff. Maybe not always perfect but certainly entertaining. More a case of what not to do than what to do. Click here for more info.
