Grahame Harrison

Grahame in front of part of his archives. An enormous collection of rare and irreplaceable record's, CD's and DVD's (circa 2004)

Grahame was born and raised in Kensington (Sydney) and attended Waverley College . He was taught by author Thomas Keneally who stamped an indelible love for the English language on his young pupil.

On leaving school he plunged head-first into the fledgling Australian rock industry in 1969 as a 'roadie' (lowly-paid slave).

He also worked for radio station 2SM as a casual promotions person and was the station's co-coordinator for the entertainment at the opening of the Opera House in 1973.

Around 1975 he was responsible for writing a one-page 'rock column' for the Manly Daily newspaper under the pseudonym of 'Harry Graham'. The column made for interesting reading and repeatedly scooped rivals from major city papers.

He was one of the first Australian production crew to travel overseas with a band when he toured the U.K. and Europe with The Saints in 1977. His career included F.O.H. audio operator, production manager & tour manager, working with many famous Aussie bands and as a crew member on many international shows.

Grahame ran a hire company in Surfers Paradise from 1982-1984 with compatriot Greg (Bear) Horrocks before relocating to Sydney to manage the hire department at Turramurra Music (Sydney) from 1986 to 1992. He then moved into the wholesale audio industry from 1992-1994 at Telex EVI, eventually returning to freelance audio work for a few years before working for another wholesale company in sales from 1996 to 1999.

These days he lives in Coffs Harbour and does occasional 'live' shows & enjoys the local music scene, but he has never stopped writing all through the years & was involved with the definitive '30 Years Of Sound & Light' project with Julius Grafton & Colin Baldwin for CX magazine, where he wrote & researched a 3,000 word document for the project which has been widely applauded.

Grahame's experience and versatility over the years have allowed him to stockpile a large amount of historical information and audio knowledge. He welcomes all enquiries from all people & is very approachable.
