Digital microphone for use in paging and evacuation systems. This is a type of paging microphone with zone. The gooseneck microphone is fitted with a condenser capsule and with a cardioid sensitivity characteristic. By means of a built-in compressor-limiter, the output level of the microphone signal is constantly maintained. Furthermore, there is an indication on the front panel which shows the value of the output level, giving the speaker confirmation of a clearly reproduced message. The functioning of the unit, namely from the microphone cell to the output of the preamplifier, is digitally monitored. In the event of malfunctioning, an error message is displayed. This is necessary to ensure that in case of an evacuation announcement, the message from the paging console is 100 % reliable. Furthermore, at the top of the appliance, there is an indication which shows whether the data line of the appliance is busy. This function is programmable by different levels of priority for different paging station. Furthermore, there are 3 buttons on the control panel with standard functions:
PTT (push to talk),select all, and clear. The other 16 buttons are used for zone selection.

By means of the necessary software, all these factors and indicators can be programmed to the needs of the user. By this means, specific applications to size can be created (e.g. contact control, start/ stop functions, activation of digital message readers, …) This optional programming, permits “zone selection” to be additionally programmed in “layers” (max. 3) so that a maximum of 45 zone selections can be achieved. The standard used databus is RS485 but through an optional interface, also other Databus standards can be used. The appliance is connected by a single connector of the RJ45 type. The APM16 paging console must always be combined with the ARU08 - 04 - 16 or AVD04 -08 - 16 intelligent relay units. These units communicate with the APM16 over the databus. Based on the number of zones, the appropriate relay unit must be used.
