HK Audio was originally established as Stamer Musikanlagen GmbH by Hans and Lothar Stamer in 1979 with the plan being to develop an R & D and manufacturing company.
In 1987, they moved to the location in St. Wendel, and took control of their own distribution.

Building the first owned factory with the usual famous words "This will solve all our space problems".
In 1988 they developed the Light Line under the brand name of Hughes & Kettner. It was first light- weight speaker cabinet line they introduced.
1989 saw them deliver the HK Audio PS 1 System. This was the first product to be branded with the official HK AUDIO Logo. They added yet another new building and expanded manufacturing.
By 1990, HK Audio was extremely well established and selling to over 14 countries worldwide.
In 1991 they expanded again with the addition of another hall for manufacturing and warehousing.

The "New" R & D, electronics, metal shop and distribution. HK Audio did not build this factory. They purchased it. It has a long history and shares a National Trust listing, having been built by a reasonably famous brick layer called Adolf Hitler.
In 1994, the company split their product lines into different brands. HK AUDIO became solely dedicated to sound reinforcement and Hughes & Kettner for guitar and bass amplification. Again, they expanded and built and acquired new offices and warehouse buildings.

As at December 2005, HK Audio was located in 16.000m² total factory space, producing around 6000 - 8000 speaker cabinets per month with 200 employees in 2 locations. Their products are sold in over 50 countries worldwide.
Our conclusion.
We think that Hans and Lothar just like building things. If it's not loudspeakers and sound equipment, it's factories, warehouses and testing rooms to make them in. These guys along with their crew are simply very passionate about knocking up cool stuff.
