The secret room where, we understand special rituals are held.
Can you believe it, we went back to visit a company we had previously visited (CMI) only this time, we weren't invited. We went in under cover, ably assisted by one of their reps. And this time, we saw everything (we think).

It's hard to describe the feeling when we entered the place. Possibly this was because we were snooping to find new products and there was a risk we might be caught.
Never the less, our trusty camera flashed away taking pics of anything we saw interesting.
Holy ground?
One section of the building is almost like a shrine to the various brands. HK Audio, dB Technologies, Wharfedale, etc, etc.
It's a place where the select few get to enjoy presentations, product reviews, training and a whole bunch of other stuff.
The back door from this room is a door that leads to the second warehouse and this was the reason we passed through the room. |

The special stash
The Stash
Just through the door, we spotted what we called "The special stash", a large collection of road cases. On asking we found the road cases contained various pieces of PA equipment used to do demos for those interested in making purchase decisions. Good idea we thought. Why would you ever buy something without trying it.
Pre-delivery
Then we rounded another corner and came upon rows and rows of Opera 110 speakers getting their pre-delivery done.

Pre-delivery amounted to little more than "Test, one, two" as well as charging the internal battery. The speaker works straight out of the box, but this small attention to detail is a nice touch.
Apparently the Opera 110's are an enormously hot item at the moment and we can see why.
They are easy to operate and work very well. A major option for anybody wanting a portable PA system.
And having picked one up, they are so light. It's very easy to carry. Must be a real bonus for those people who do not want to carry or store heavy speaker boxes.
The sound output belies the size.
Getting the sound out there
And to top it all off, distributing the sound is easy. If you choose, you can transmit from a single transmission unit. One source can power as many 110 speakers as you feel the need to setup.
The winning feature
No cables at all. No power cables and not signal cables. It's a fantastically easy way to go.
Any extra cost of purchase is soon recouped in the labor saving of not having to run cables (anywhere). It's so easy.
Couple of decent gigs and the labor saving probably pays for the system. |
